The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will conclude their full point season again by headlining the 2nd annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships, at Plymouth (Sept 29). Neitzel would settle for 2nd ahead of a hard charging Kris Spitz. Allstar Performance Heat Race 2 would see Jeremy Schultz take the lead. Thiel managed to build a six car length lead before Nimee secured the runner-up spot and he quickly closed the gap on Thiel. The series now heads to the Sheboygan County Fairpark on Saturday night for the annual running of the Frank Filskov Memorial race. Add to that list Phillip Mock, who scored wins in a pair of local 410 shows at Wilmot Raceway, and you have a united group of racers ready to win for the IRA banner.The event will include MSA, WI wing LESS, and WIMS in their championship full point finales too. Scotty Thiel would challenge Schultz multiple times for the lead but couldn't find a line around the King of the Sherm Nation. With two laps to go Thiel got into the cushion in turn four allowing Nimee to work underneath, and the battle was on. The main event will be contested at 27 laps in honor of Filskov. Todd Daun, the 2014 Wilmot Raceway champ knows the third-mile clay oval as well as anyone on hand and is another driver due for a victory within the IRA ranks.While Deer Creek isnt new to the IRA schedule, its been several years since the series has run at the 3/8 highbanks, as last years return visit fell victim to rain. Look for two time IRA champion Scotty Neitzel to be out front at the end as well. Further back Nimee was slicing through the pack having reached the seventh position after starting in the 14th spot. Over the final laps Whitney keep up his pace comfortably taking the win. Blaney has won all three showdown events between the two series, and hes looking to extend the streak to four.
Additionally there is a Show Up points ONLY weekend, and 4 Non-Point events listed which have incentives attached for IRA member teams. Balog and Thiel have been the class of the field all season and will both be trying to get their 2nd win of the season at Wilmot but to do so they will have beat some very tough competition. Thiel was able to get around the 2w of Neitzel and take off from the field. I got around Reinke there and apparently I was in the lead, Thiel said of his run to the front before the caution. Once out front Neitzel began to pull away from his rivals. Toss in the best of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints and several of Wilmot Raceways own hometown heroes and a field approaching 40 cars will be in attendance for the showdown.
Full points will be awarded at races held at 15 different venues within a 4 state region. Steve Meyer is still looking for his first win of the year and has been able to drive his Meyer Electric 85m to a win at Wilmot before. As the race wore on Schultz moved into 2nd ahead of Nienhiser. We didnt need that caution, last night it helped a little bit. I was quick on the bottom early on getting around guys. Ben Schmidt, another challenger for the 2015 season title sailed into the second spot with Whitney making a daring opening lap charge to advance from sixth on the starting grid up to third. All five of the above venues have events in which the wing LESS group will share the card with their big brothers of the Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series. This combination will run together on 9 occasions, 5 of which will include IRAs WIMS Mini Sprints too, creating a 3 sprint division program which will surely be fan favorites. The Joliet event at Route 66 is Saturday night of Chicagoland Speedways big NASCAR weekend, following the conclusion of the NASCAR Xfinity race just across the street. Meyer has since been able to claim a win of his own at the Langlade County Speedway, winning the 2016 event and should be a contender this Friday night. It took just two more laps before Thiel to slip by Rose to become the next driver to hold runner-up honors. After the event is was found that the oil filter had come loose on the machine of Rose, and that fortunately he did not add his name to the list of expired engines this evening. Expect over a dozen of that series top star drivers to battle for the rights to Wilmot Raceways winner circle.
The IRA officially has the events at 34 Raceway, Fairbury American Legion Speedway, and La Salle Speedway listed as co-sanctioned races with MOWA, though it is likely that the MOWA sanction will be added to enhance one or two of the currently listed multiple race Wisconsin weekends too. Meyer has proven to be strong on the big tracks and and will use that skill to try and claim his first win of the 2017 season. Out front Reinke found himself in heavy lapped traffic at the halfway point of the contest, allowing Thiel, who is very familiar with the Plymouth Dirt Track racing surface where the competed many seasons in a 360 sprint to close the gap. As a result of Roses issues Neitzel got a reprieve on his battle for second, and the third position now fell into the hands of Schmidt who had seen his chief challenger in the point battle drop from the contest. Currently the score is 3-0 in favor of the All-Stars, or more specifically in favor of multi-time All-Star champion Dale Blaney.
Something that was only an idea just over three years ago is set to go trackside for their 4th season. In DMI Racing/ R&H Enterprises Heat Race 3, 2015 IRA champion Bill Rose took the early lead in the Bob Hood Motorsports 10w machine. Thiel had to settle for runner-up honors for his efforts. Adult tickets are just , kids 6-12 years only , and children 5 & under are FREE. Toss in 2015 Rookie of the Year contenders Kyle Marten, Rick Kelsey, and Josh Walters and you have a talented group ready to take on the All-Stars. A schedule of opportunity exists, beginning with 22 full point events contested at 5 different facilities. In the closing laps Steve Meyer would work his way around Rose and take the win. One of those will be Saturday night of the Kenosha County Fair. On the restart Thiel would stay on Balog's bumper but could not make a run for the lead, they battled through lapped traffic again and as the white flag flew Thiel looked to have a shot, Balog took the high line in turn 3 and Thiel went low and slid in front of fhe North Pole Nightmare briefly taking the lead, but Balog was able to cross under him and take the lead back as they exited turn 4. Eighth went to Russel Borland the highest placing driver of those transferring from the B-main. Wilmot Raceway, which is home for the series, will host 13 point events, while Angell Park Speedway is home for 4, with Beaver Dam Raceway and 141 Speedway having two each. The A main saw Ben Schmidt jump out to the early lead but quickly Scotty Thiel worked his Professional Plating 64 in 2nd. Schultz had started in the seventh spot, and found extra speed after the final restart.
